Low Maintenance Garden

Attached to a new build, this garden originally consisted of wall-to-wall grass. Not keen on the upkeep, the couple asked us to provide a truly low maintenance garden that could be used an entertainment space in an instant.

We began by taking up the grass and adding a thick base of hardcore using our compactor. Next our edgings went in followed by the carefully laid block paved patio. We also concreted in a chamfered kerb to create a raised edge feature. A perfect space for sitting in sun in this amazingly sunny garden. Finally we laid the gravel, with a space left for planting in the centre.

Being such an amazing sun trap, a low maintenance garden like this would still provide plenty of space to grow plants in pots or planters – especially with that tall wall (right) a wash with sunshine for most of the day. Perfect for tomatoes or sun-loving climber!
